Teamworks destroyed by gadget addiction

It's not surprising about this title when we are looking towards the trend of recent society. In addition, Professor Graham Jones: a leading psychologist of performance development consultancy certainly thinks that it was evidence of a growing trend towards gadget addiction(Winder, 2007).

"The virtual office has indeed revolutionized the way we do business but what about the unwanted side effects when the line between business and pleasure becomes blurred? Managers may have the luxury of being able to manage their workload whenever wherever, but increasingly they’re losing their grip on a healthy work life balance. Today’s mobile manager is never ‘away from his desk’ and whether it’s an evening, a weekend or even a holiday abroad with the family, he or she is expected to be on call to deal with any eventuality".

The concern was about Blackberry culture is driving people towards a requirement to always be in touch with our boss, and a consequential inability to work properly without real lifeline. Plus, research done by The Work Foundation found that 30% of Britons are failing to take their annual leave entitlement and it is because they are too busy.

How about our situation in Malaysia? The big question mark is whether this dependence is a healthy one or not. Is there really any harm being done in making use of mobile technologies to keep in touch both on a personal and professional basis? Mobile working is the norm these days, and as long as we are sensible about it and allow ourselves some breathing space away from the desk in our pocket that should be okay, I guess..

Innovation through IT Strategy & Planning

This is not about the new lecture, nor further presentation (^_^) My eyes just captured an advertisement of Salamfone, the first ever shariah compliant mobile operator.

These days, we could say that the innovation become common through information technology (IT). Entrepreneurs' success and achievements were influenced by the combination of innovation and creativity to run their businesses. According to Scarborough (2011), its about thinking and doing new things or done old things in new ways.

Harian Metro for instance, a leading newspaper in Malaysia: start using iPad application to capture the user, regardless of location and time (Ainiza Zainuddin, 27 Mac 2011). Same goes with PEARSON, a publisher company who begin to adopt green technology through their distribution of instructor manual to educators. Instead providing them in the form of CD, the lecturer only need the password to browse the teaching materials.

The development of business to business, business to consumer, e-tailing, e-commerce and the like are seems familiar to the consumer as a result of technology advancement nowadays. In fact, the Internet had grown so fast and become one of the most amazing technology and social accomplishment (Schneider, 2009). It's now just depend on the user's consideration either to use it nicely or vice versa!
